Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 Service Pack 1

Service pak 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 and also Windows 7 are going to be released in the next several weeks as announced by Microsoft. What’s going to be covered and fixed in this service pack is not clear yet but some stuff could be guessed from the rumors going on.
In Windows 7 now there are not any serious complaint or problem with the operating system but the only thing that once in a while could be heard is the compatibility of Windows 7 with some graphic cards produced by NVIDIA that caused a crash in the system and a restart right after. I believe this could be one of the problems that would be solved when the service pack is released. Fortunately there are not many security issues released in Windows 7 and I don’t think the service pack will focus a lot on Security.
What’s going to be covered in Windows Server 2008 R2 is a lot of improvements made on the virtualization. There are two new features to be added to Windows Server 2008 R2:
-Dynamic Memoy: The memory dynamically assigned to virtual machines built on top of Hyper-v is one of those new features. what it does is distribute the available memory of the system to different virtual machines. Using this new feature there will be less effort needed to specify the amount of RAM on different VMs by the systems administrator.
-RemoteFX: This is a feature added to Remote Desktop Services letting the users enjoy all the graphical features like Windows Aero features, or silverlight or even 3D animations over a Remote Desktop session whether to a desktop hosted on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or it could be a session on Terminal Services. There will be more information coming up regarding this feature also.
Let’s see what’s going to come up really but as the rumors say it is going to be out by the end of July.
